3.1.2 Supporting software
The following directories contain supporting software:
home
The home directory contains login directories. Some standard BAAN IV login codes are delivered at the moment of installation, for example, applic, bsp, and demo. The login directories of normal BAAN IV users cannot be located in this directory because any changes to the BSE environment would result in having to change the UNIX user data of all BAAN IV users with a home directory in ${BSE}/home.
include6.1
This directory contains several files for standard functions and definitions used by the bshell during the compilation of program and report scripts.
doc
This directory can contain certain release notes pertaining to the installation of BAAN IV.
log
If an error occurs while the application is used, an error message is displayed on the screen. These error messages as well as some additional information is stored in a log file in the log directory. Log files are of the log.<program name> format and are used to determine the cause of an error message.
tmp
BAAN IV provides the capability to repeat print requests by storing temporary file for print requests in the ${BSE}/tmp directory. When a print request needs to be repeated, the temporary file is retrieved and activated. The files in this directory all start with tmp. Some of the files in this directory may be lock files and are used to prevent some processes from starting up twice.
sec
BAAN IV software can be protected against unauthorized use. Protected software can only be used after having been validated and patched. The ${BSE}/sec directory contains files related to protected software.
api
This directory contains some examples for customers who want to write their own api (application programming interface). For example, a report writer program.
audit
BAAN IV provides of audit management capability, which means that actions on BAAN IV tables can be logged. Audit information, like table transactions, is stored in the audit directory. For each audited table, there are two types of audit files: sequence files and information files.
Sequence files end with a sequence number and contain the audit information. Information files have an.inf extension and contain information about the sequence files pertaining to the same table.
gif
This directory contains the icons for the graphical user interface of BAAN IV.
ps
This directory contains a number of postscript files.
course
This directory contains a dump of a demo package, which is used during BAAN IV Tools courses.
